AJ+ biography
AJ+ is a digital news media organization that was launched in 2014 by Al Jazeera Media Network. The channel primarily produces short-form news videos that are distributed primarily through social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The channel's content is aimed at young audiences and generally covers topics like social justice issues, politics, and human rights around the world. Despite its relatively short history, AJ+ has already won numerous awards for its journalism, including a Webby Award for Best News and Politics Series in 2019.
AJ+ controversies
Despite its focus on progressive values and human rights, AJ+ has faced criticism from some quarters. In 2018, the channel was accused of airing antisemitic content in a video that criticized the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). The video was subsequently removed from AJ+'s social media platforms, and the channel issued an apology. AJ+ has also been accused of bias in its reporting on Middle Eastern politics, with some critics alleging that the channel's coverage is overly sympathetic to Qatar (where Al Jazeera is based) and to extremist political groups.
